About Foveo
The Plan:
The focus of Foveo Flower Farm remains prioritizing local designers. Flowers are in every photo of the biggest day of a couple’s lives. Florists have to design with and manipulate plants, yet make them look as good as alive. How stressful to work in the wonderings of “when will this piece fail?” with hopes that it will last through the commissioned event. Foveo Flower Farm is working in the Gallatin Valley to ease the burden of worry that hangs over florists’ heads. Fresh flowers, always. Responsive to assist when things aren’t going as planned, absolutely. Orders always fulfilled, feedback always welcomed. I strive to understand the needs of area florists and actively contribute to their peace of mind by delivering high quality, sustainably grown flowers so that they can give their best to their clients.
The Pursuit:
“You'll never get anywhere if you go about what-iffing like that.”
-Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator
“Do you think I could sell event-quality flowers that I grow in my field?” I asked my very skilled and knowledgeable florist friend. “There can never be enough local flowers!” was her overwhelming response. So, with that nudge and quite a bit of learning, I went for it. There was no more “what-iffing”. I had never dreamed of being a flower farmer. My Grandma warned me that I might get stuck with a Montana farmer for the rest of my life when I moved here for college. Ha! I am the farmer now. Really, the story is that short. 1-Idea 2-Tried It 3-Liked It 4-Stuck With It 5-Keep Growing
The People:
There’s always something to do, but nothing ever has to get done right now (except deliveries). It has been so enjoyable to connect with friends while seeding trays in the middle of winter around the kitchen island, planting in the sunshine with slow conversations, or sweating next to a pal while smashing a spud bar against rocks to make post holes after a frustrating day. Allowing extra time for farm chores has been such a gift. I get to include kids (mine and more) and enjoy their pace or the process instead of wishing they’d hurry up or do better. If you ever want to come join me, let me know!
In partnership with local businesses, Foveo flowers spread joy and bring connection to the people of the Churchill Retirement home as well.
The Pronunciation:
Latin: Foveo /'foh-VEY-oh'/
to nurture, cherish, foster, keep warm, support, encourage, comfort
Even though it has a cumbersome pronunciation, it stuck because it reminds me of how I want to fit farming and business into our lives. I don’t always do it well, but the silly name reminds me to cherish and prioritize people through the process and refocuses me when I go astray.
The Past:
I was raised in North Seattle to love rainy days, Jesus, playing on the lake, my family, a thrifty mid-west casserole, my cat “Bob”, and basketball. Fast forward to 2007, I moved to Bozeman to play basketball for the ‘Cats and a few year later I got married. I love him more now, I didn’t think that was possible then. After college, I went pro in something other than sports. Nursing is what I have dreamed of doing since 3rd grade. I did it! I love it. I paused my career in 2020 when we started taking in kids in foster care. Looking back, I realized I have always cultivated & planted & found joy in it.
The Present:
Wife, mom (3 kids, sometimes more, still fostering or doing respite), friend, homeschool teacher, middle school basketball coach, flower farmer. Getting my hands in the dirt rain or shine, whenever I can.
